Unlucky Day
Being a leprechaun is a delight 99.75 percent of the time. All rainbows and clover and pots of gold. But for a single day in March, everyone wants their three wishes and suddenly life gets a lot more complicated.
Sean O'Patrick O'Reilly knew enough to scout his hiding place early. You never wanted to be caught because you're scrambling for an empty cave or secluded tree hollow and without warning someone has you by the ankle demanding a million dollars or world peace.
But who could have foreseen an old, fat man's metal detector stumbling upon Sean's golden hat buckle?
The Best In The World
"I can make you the best in the world at one thing," said the leprechaun.
David mulled his choice over carefully before eventually answering, "I want to be the best in the world at not dying."
The leprechaun sighed, and David smiled smugly. "I outwitted you, didn't I? You weren't expecting that."
"It's not too late to change your mind."
"Nope, that's what I want."
"Very well," the leprechaun responded sadly.
A few moments later, a giant asteroid collided with the Earth. Over the next several months, humanity died off in the apocalyptic conditions. David was the last human alive.
The End Of The Rainbow
After years of chasing storms all around the world, Will finally found his way to the end of a rainbow.
The scene was less idyllic than he'd imagined. The area around the rainbow was dark and wet and definitely not sanitary. With all the discarded junk and used medical supplies, it looked rather like a trash dump.
There was a leprechaun, though he seemed drunk and could not even manage to stand. Will asked where his gold was buried.
"You think I'd hide my gold here, at the shit end of the rainbow?" He hiccuped and fell asleep. Will cried.
Either Way, You're Likely To Take A Beating
You are walking alone at night. The avenue is poorly lit, with violent shadows cast from the lone street lamp. You look about nervously. You've never been in this part of town before.
That's when you notice a shiny gold coin in the corner of your eye.
As you are about to pick up the token, you see a gnarly old leprechaun jump out of the shadows, wielding a heavy shillelagh and threatening to beat you over the head with it.
Do you:
Stay and pick up the coin (turn to page 47)
Run like hell (turn to page 23)
The Daily Theme from Figment for April 4
You are walking alone at night and notice a trinket on the ground. It's intriguing enough that you stop to take a closer look. You're about to pocket it when something happens that makes you immediately throw the object back down and start to run...
The Leprechaun Hunter
Every Leprechaun I've ever known's nothing more than a ruddy thief. All that 'gold' they keep at the end of the rainbow, that's ill-gotten pillage, buried where they think no one will ever find it.
People, especially the lasses, get nostalgic when I tell them I'm a Leprechaun hunter. But their ain't nothing romantic about it. They're shifty bastards, and if you turn your eye for one second, they'll bite you in your nuts and abscond with your daughter.
Being half Leprechaun meself, I reckon their luck don't work against me. Leastways, I've killed more Leprechauns than raindrops in Winter.
