A Story In

100 Words

Welcome To Our New Website

A Story In 100 Words brings you flash fiction stories on a daily basis. It is an experiment in writing and brevity. We invite you to comment or submit your own 100-word stories. Our hope is to build a community of writers and readers who are microfiction enthusiasts.

2026 has already been a big year for our humble website. That starts with our brand new website, which you happen to be looking at this very moment. After more than a decade on the Entropy Squared domain, I decided A Story In 100 Words needed a home of its own.

This new website features more than just a fresh makeover. No longer will the reading experience be hampered by out-of-date plugins or updates that break functionality. It will be easier than ever to leave comments, reshare posts to social, and peruse past stories by subject matter or author.

I started this website in December 2009 as a way to motivate myself to write every day. It’s now 15+ years and more than 2,000 stories later, and I can’t believe we’re still going. Of course that’s got everything to do with the readers and writers that have stumbled upon the website and been inspired to contribute their own stories. I can honestly say you’re the only reason I’m still doing this.

If you feel so inclined, you can support the new website via Ko-Fi. All donations contribute directly to the fees associated with hosting the website and will allow us to expand our offerings, including more contests, writing groups, and other community building actions. Your donation, whether it’s one time or ongoing, means the world. Alternatively, you can support my writing by purchasing one or more of my books from Amazon. There’s even a collection of 100-word stories.

Might I also recommend the Entropy Squared newsletter. Click subscribe (below) if you enjoy reading about:

  • Dinosaurs

  • Robots

  • Robotic Dinosaurs

  • The Meaning of Life

  • Russian intellectuals who need 1000+ pages to encapsulate the meaninglessness of their existence.

While I intend to send out the newsletter more often, I can assure you I will never spam your inbox or share your info. Ever.

Thank you to everyone who visits the site, submits stories, or has purchased one of my books. I appreciate all of you.

That is all.
