Teed Off

When Matt Dobson teed off for the tenth hole, he drilled Brian Witherspoon, who weighs about 350, as he bent over to pick up what he thought was a quarter but turned out to be a gum wrapper.

“Well damn,” Brian yelled, “Dobson’s ball hit me square in the ass!”

Everyone got real quiet and we thought a situation might develop, but Lawson jumped off the bench and yelled, “Oh come on, he missed your asshole by five inches.”

Then everyone started laughing and so Brian walked over and shook Dobson’s hand and we all got on with our game.

Preventing Regret

The road was empty at two in the morning and felt like a different world.

“We should…go to the strip club...” Jim said slurring his words.

“I don't know,” I replied. “His wife would kill him. He’d probably screw up.”

“It’s coming up…Just…take us.”

“I’m not so certain.”

“Drop me off and I’ll…I’ll Uber home.”

He hit my arm and pointed. I fiddled through every pre-set radio station.

“Looks like we missed it,” I said.

Two days later we were golfing.

“Thanks for not leaving me there the other night.”

“I didn’t think you remembered that.”

Shades Of White

He had spent the morning prepping: moving furniture, taking down curtains, removing pictures from the walls, spreading drop cloths, and taping: lots and lots of taping.

Finally, the paint was open and stirred. Before dipping the brush in the can, Paul looked longingly through the picture window at the gorgeous spring day. He sighed, knowing his friends were probably just finishing their round at the country club.

“Honestly,” he thought, “who can tell the difference between Yucca White and Painter’s Canvas. I just did this room two months ago.”

He hated painting, but when his wife said paint, he painted.

Rivals In Romance

Carl loved Savannah with true devotion. Unfortunately, his rival for her affections had much more to offer in the way of money, stability, looks, and sexual prowess. Sebastian, however, had no understanding of true love.

Carl and Sebastian hated each other as true rivals do. They contested everything, from golf outings to strong man competitions. Carl always lost. Even at endeavors that one might consider of a sensitive nature, such as poetry readings, Sebastian proved the better man.

In the end, Savannah wed the town haberdasher in an arranged marriage. Still, Carl and Sebastian continued their feud well into January.
