So Hard
I was led into the room without introductions. With only twelve in my year at primary school, everyone knew everyone. But I didn’t know myself. I thought I was an astronaut.
Seeing the other two in my remedial class, I thought, Am I one of these?
They were Sharon Specs and Simple Simon. So hard accepting that I belonged in a group I’d ridiculed. Embarrassing being near them.
Months later, I was the only one needing extra classes. Then I’d discover I wasn’t really like Sharon and Simon. They were smarter.
I had to orbit Earth alone in my daydreams.

Go Lightly
Between classes, Hollie and I liked to sneak over to the coffee shop across the road. The trouble was, it was a busy intersection with no crossing points; what a relic! So imagine how frightened I was when she just took off into the busy traffic. Between the perils of angry horns and fast-paced steel she somehow made it to the other side.
Being more sensible, I waited until it was quieter. Then I sprinted over eyes shut and caught up to her.
“It's ok,” she said as I caught my breath, “they are not allowed to run you over.”

Jobs For Humans
The android smiled at Brad. "Did you enjoy your work day last week?"
"Watching androids build walls? Are there any jobs where I actually dosomething?"
The android paused. "A day as a headmaster at a school?"
Later, another android greeted Brad at the school gates. "Mr Earnshaw, come this way."
"What will I be doing?"
"You'll be giving the human day teachers a motivational talk on howimportant their role is."
"Do they teach?"
"The children are busy with android led classes."
Brad was stood in front of a room of bored humans, and left to do his job.
