Chloe

I loved the way Chloe licked her lips after an ice-cold drink, and when her long black hair blew in the breeze. When she tilted her face backward, she looked beautiful.

Chloe set up the picnic while I stood under the tree and watched. She was gorgeous in the way she shook the table cloth and neatly placed it on the grass.

The diamond ring was in my pocket, and I was set to propose on this bright warm, sunny day. She’d love it.

Chloe waved me over and I was ready. Then the unthinkable happened.

It thundered, then rained.

Proposal

The EMT says everything will be okay while the ambulance siren blares in the background. I’m in and out of consciousness and not sure what has happened. The last thing I remember is getting into my car to drive to Ally’s house.

Every inch of my body hurts, I’m tired and so cold. I can’t move because I’m strapped to a gurney. I wish the pain would go away.

Someone with a deep voice speaks to me. "Stay with me, man, don’t go.”

Where would I be going? I can’t move.

I remember. I was going to propose to Ally.

A Fool For Love

Timothy stepped out into the cold evening air and briskly walked to the flower shop to buy a dozen red roses to propose to his girlfriend Isabelle. He had the ring in his inside coat pocket and his proposal branded in his memory.

Timothy pulled out his wallet. “A dozen red roses, please.”

“Big night, sir,” the cashier asked.

“I’m proposing to my girlfriend,” Timothy answered while fumbling for change.

“Good luck, to you.”

“Thanks.”

When Timothy arrived, stunned from what he saw through the living room window, he dropped the roses. Isabelle and his brother Tony were passionately kissing.

The Never-Ending Date

Barbara and Steve began their first date in the firehouse deli. They both thought it quaint. It didn't take long for them to realize things were going extremely well. After their movie, as he walked Barbara back to her house, Steve suggested they continue the date tomorrow.

"I'll meet you in the morning and it will be part of the same date." Barbara found the idea charming.

When Steve proposed three years later, Barbara asked if that would mean the end of their first date. Steve said no.

"Why would I stop the best thing that's ever happened to me."
