Electric Relaxation
Thanks to recent advances in artificial intelligence, electric relaxation has become a standard wellness intervention around the world. Cheaper than traditional forms of medication, this novel technique almost instantaneously improved the emotional fitness of every human lucky enough to experience it.
With the application of just the right intensity and frequency, the patient becomes pleasantly stimulated to the point that all fears, anxieties, and unwelcome urges are permanently purged. Individuals with aberrant behavioral issues find themselves much better able to cope with communal life, happily taking their place in the new social order that's been ushered in by the singularity.
Release The Hounds
The mob surrounded the exterior fence, wielding an array of weaponry, everything from baseball bats and hockey sticks to handguns and automatic weapons. Policy that made a lot of sense when the ire was directed at the liberal elites now seemed short-sighted.
"Thomas, let's see what they think of our dogs."
"Very good, sir."
He'd imported a dozen trained attack dogs from Israel. Not enough to fend off a hundred armed individuals, but he found it hard to believe these peasants were prepared to shoot an animal.
The barks dissipated faster than he expected.
"They came prepared, sir. With steaks."
The Celebration
Where was he?
Anxious guests chattered in anticipation of what would happen next. The priest glanced at the row of individuals immediately before him. Then, at his watch.
Time passed on. The front door opened. A man rushed in.
No one turned to greet him. No talking caught his ears.
Who would’ve believed his story of being caught up in traffic when he was golfing with friends and lost track of time?
He fumbled in his dress jacket pocket, finding the wedding ring lodged in its creases.
