Hoover Dam

It is a little known fact that Herbert Hoover was never really interested in becoming president. He actually started his career working as a mining engineer, traveling the world developing mines for various precious metals. At this time, politics was the furthest thing from his mind. His simple ambition, if you can call it simple, was to have a dam named after him, preferably the most famous dam in the Western Hemisphere. Becoming the President of the United States was just, in engineering language, the straightest line between two points.

Too bad Hoover's mostly remembered for causing the Great Depression.

Parking Lot Poet

I sit and think.

Of what, I'm not sure. As this mind has tendencies to wander. Wanting perfection, but tending to squander.As the ideas flow as dam water, next thing you know you're down the river. I gasp, adrenaline flows to capture the shore. Just to be able to hold to one original idea.

I sit and think.

In ways of harnessing this cursed gift, since frustration foreclosures many of them before they leave the pen. In a sense I'm the hopeless poet I so ironically created. The oxymoron of a poet's life sitting in a empty parking lot.

The Shockingly True Exploits Of The Boy Who Panicked A Nation

When they built the dam, they said it would hold all the water. They said no one would ever be thirsty again. And they said it would never break.

Tommy was standing on the observation deck, thinking about dinosaur bones. All those dinosaur bones that would never be discovered because they lay at the bottom of the world's largest reservoir.

The crack occurred right behind him. He turned, and water was already starting to seep through. Tommy instinctively placed his finger over the crack.

The papers would later report Tommy decided dinosaur bones were more real to him than strangers.
